Work History

Principal Architect, SIBRIDGE Ltd. (2001 to Present)

Contextual Architecture consulting for multiple SIBRIDGE Clients. Projects include "standing-up" Business Architecture teams for multiple industries, including Logistics, Telecom, Server Hosting, and Professional Services. Develop and refine SIBRIDGE Business Architecture methods, frameworks, and modeling processes. Work with internal and external clients to customize Business Architecture efforts to suit specific needs without sacrificing best practices. Approach emphasizes clarity, simplicity, and existing architecture process maturity.

Server Hosting Provided Business Architecture expertise to multiple projects which include IP Management, DNS Administration, Hands Off Provisioning of Servers, and Usage Collection / Billing. Developed and maintained required architectural artifacts in Sparx Enterprise Architect tool. Artifacts include Business Objectives and Requirements, Process and Information Models, and Use Cases where needed. Sprint International - Providing Conceptual Architecture consulting for Operations and Planning/Engineering Groups by facilitating the definition of TTI-Telecom NetCap (Inventory) short and long range requirements through the use of facilitated user requirement sessions and use case diagrams.  Acting as internal subject matter expertise for Sprint International, provided day to day guidance, training support, and 2nd level bug resolutions for TTI Netcap in the production environment.

Sprint International - Provided Enterprise Architecture guidance to Sprint International’s OSS development team, who provides Service Delivery and Service Assurance capabilities to their off-shore optical mesh networks. Participated in the vendor evaluation and selection processes for COTS NMS/EMS, network planning tool software packages and 3rd party professional services. Worked with Team Telecom International (TTI) on architecture, configuration, and integration of the Netcap and EWO (workflow) applications with CRM and Billing applications. Fully participated in the system and product testing phases of the project. Helped bring the TTI application into production. Worked with Sprint’s Advanced Technology Lab to create a realistic test network configuration, using the Ciena CoreDirector and Tellabs Focus LX, in order to complete integration testing between the Netrac NMS and the element interfaces. My primary internal customers are in the network planning, provisioning, and operations groups.

Sr. Architect, McLeodUSA (2000 to 2001)

IT Architecture for the deployment of OSS and Back Office applications to support the roll out of the McLeodUSA National Mesh Fiber Network. Was responsible for a broad set of architectural and development approach concerns including vendor hardware/software evaluations, high level business requirements from all organizations, shared data architecture, network to OSS integration, application integration, hands on optical lab setup, and network planning/modeling/simulation tools. Facilitating development of Optical Transport Equipment northbound interfaces, including Ciena CoreDirector, Cisco 15454, and Nortel, in order to integrate functions into back-office FCAPS applications. My primary internal customers are network engineering and operations.

CIO/Vice President, Raceway Parks Inc. (2000 to 2002)

Technology Infrastructure planning and development. Responsible for all aspects of the infrastructure to support the planning, construction, and operations of the Raceway Parks complex. This included telecommunications, computer operations, security transport, video transport, and application/database development.

Consultant, Metamor Consulting (1999 to 2000)

Conceptual Architect working with Sprint on the Integrated On-Demand Network (ION) product. Was responsible for articulating strategic business objectives to the system development, information architecture, and technical architecture organizations. Facilitating architectural communications between program managers, release teams, Business and I.T. management teams. Arbitration of strategic versus tactical application and interface approaches. Specializing on Service Delivery, bandwidth on demand, ATM, Frame Relay, Digital Cross Connect, and SONET transmission systems.

 

President, Sole Proprietor, Client 1st Corporation (1996 to 2001)

Working with clients to develop an Application Service Provider (ASP) infrastructure to support multiple internal and external IT initiatives. Working to develop and deploy a variety of Web Services based on highly available messaging technologies, emphasizing the use of UML, message brokers, application servers, and relational databases.

Provide Data Warehousing and Decision Support experience to major Telecommunications companies as well as hardware and software vendors serving the Telecommunications industry.  Projects include demonstration development, data modeling, query tool selection, use of hierarchical storage systems, and vendor software evaluation. Delivered a wide range of consulting services for small to medium sized businesses from all industries, enabling them to better utilize their Information Technology investments for day-to-day business processes.  Services include hardware, operating systems, and application selection, configuration, and maintenance, development of inter/intra-nets, and planning for future business growth. Planned and implemented the successful startup of Gorilla Internet, a local Internet Service Provider. Participate in on-going upgrade and administration issues as well as on-site network installation and configuration.

President, Inter@ctive Technologies, Inc. (1998 to 2000)

Formed corporation to provide full service hardware, software, and consulting to businesses as well as individuals.  Duties include managing, accounting, marketing, and financing.  Setup and maintain internal Computer/Communications technologies. Working with banks and major vendors to establish credit.  Acquired office space for showroom, computer assembly, and training.

Provide clients with business and technical consulting services, telephony, LAN/WAN, one on one instruction, network planning, setup, and administration. Specializing on Windows NT, BackOffice, Internet/intranet, and custom/packaged software solutions.

Director Solution Development, UNISYS (1995 to 1996)

Created and managed the Data Discovery and Demonstration Center. Duties included the creation of demonstration databases and queries using various databases and front-end tools. Demonstrations are telecommunications industry related and can be access by remote dial up by the Sales and Marketing teams. Data discovery and data mining is accomplished using samples of actual customer data, which is evaluated and the findings are presented to the customer.

Program Marketing Manager, responsible for vertical marketing programs concerning Decision Support and Data Warehousing for the telecommunications industry.  Duties included technical program management, business discovery and analysis, Independent Software Vendor product evaluation, and responding to RFIs and RFPs. Acted as a technical resource for Customers, management, and peers regarding telecommunications industry Decision Support requirements, logical business modeling, and applicability of software tools. These tools were developed for uses such as Executive Information Systems, end-user query, data mining, multi-dimensional analysis, and Geographic Information Systems. Hands-on experience with Oracle Parallel and Redbrick databases running on Unisys' Open Parallel Unisys Server and SMP platforms as well as a number of software packages such as the Information Discovery Suite, Business Objects, Andyne GQL, MapInfo, and Brio Query.

Staff Analyst, WilTel (1993 to 1995)

Responsible for gathering user input and creating Business Requirements documents which serve as the basis for system development staff to create new or enhance existing applications which provide systematic solutions to business needs and problems. Involved in the Analysis and creation of Business Requirement documents, which cover business functions such as Order Administration, Billing, Provisioning, Trouble Reporting, Asset Management, and Network Management. Member of internal re-engineering team established to focus on frame relay service delivery. Member of the ATM Implementation Team, responsible for project managing the integration of WilTel's ATM NMS to the Administrative Business Systems. Member of the Object Oriented Business Analysis team, focused on the migration of WilTel's network and inventory systems to object oriented application development technologies.

Sr. Project Manager, SPRINT (1988 to 1993)

Responsible for project management of systematic solutions to time consuming and/or labor intensive business processes in the Access Management group. Duties include acting as a liaison between users and system developers, developing and presenting requirements, development of ad hoc reports using QMF, SAS, COBOL, PAS/2, Q+E, Foxpro, and Access to act as prototypes for incorporation into the Access Management Decision Support System.

Sr. Engineer, member of the New Business Ventures group representing I/S Network Management and Administrative Applications providing scope and level of effort documents for Senior Management to evaluate the impact of new ventures.

Program Manager, responsible for project management and planning functions of the Transmission Optimization Program. Duties include facilitating planning meetings, determining sizing, benefits, and scope, producing regular status reports, maintaining an issue log, and preparing management presentations. Maintain a high level of awareness concerning the telecommunication industry's direction, particularly in the area of transmission network technologies.

Sr. Engineer, responsible for definition and analysis of technical business requirements for incorporation into the Sprint Facility Management System (FMS) using the IE-STRADIS development methodology. Project management of every phase of the development life cycle, including requirements gathering, program coding, acceptance testing, documentation completion and application delivery.

Installation Engineer, TRANSGLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS (1983 to 1988)

Worked for Sprint in Reston, Va., tasked with ad hoc report generation and database maintenance. Supervised field technicians removing facilities from Sprint's analog network.  Designed and maintained on-site equipment and facility database.
